Aurangzeb’s Tomb Shut For 5 Days To Maintain Law And Order: Maha Deputy CM

Mumbai: Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb in Aurangabad will remain closed for five days to ensure that the law and order situation in Maharashtra does not get affected, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said.

A major controversy broke out after AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s brother Akbaruddin Owaisi recently visited the tomb of the Mughal ruler at Khuldabad in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district.

After this, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis targeted Owaisi and asked Uddhav Thackeray’s state government to take action against him. Fadnavis said that Owaisi has insulted the “nationalist Muslims” of the country by glorifying Aurangzeb.

Just two days ago, MNS spokesperson Gajanan Kale questioned the existence of the tomb and said that it should not have happened earlier. He demanded the state government demolish the tomb.

Following his threat, a local mosque committee approached the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to seal the area. The ASI has now closed that place for five days.

Security was also beefed up around the monument after a threat from the MNS.
