Australian Open: Serena Williams Knocks Halep Out, Moves To Semis

Mumbai: American tennis player Serena Williams reached the semi-finals of the ongoing Australian Open on Tuesday.

Serena defeated Romania’s Simona Halep 6-3, 6-3 in the quarter-finals at Rod Laver Arena and, as a result, the American dreamed of registering her name in the 24th Grand Slam win.

The 39-year-old Serena was in a strong mood in the first set and did not give Halep any chance and as a result, the American star won the first set 6-3. Serena hit 14 winners to win the opening set.

Halep took a 3–1 lead in the second set, but Serena managed to bounce back to a score of 3–3. Pushing her forward with her speed, Serena made the winning charge and, as a result, won the match in straight sets.

The 39-year-old Serena needs an equalizer win with a Margaret Court record Grand Slam tally. He has not featured in his Grand Slam tally since beating his sister Venus in the Australian Open final in 2017.

Earlier in the day, Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka beat Taiwan’s Su-Wei Hasheh on Tuesday to enter the semi-finals of the current Australian Open.

Three-time Grand Slam champion Osaka defeated Hsieh in two sets and secured a comfortable win over Rod Laver Arena in 66 minutes.

The world number three won seven matches in his stunning victory and extended the winning streak to 19 matches.
