AUSvsNZ: Kane Richardson Tested Positive For Coronavirus Dropped From From Ist ODI

Mumbai: In a fresh report, Australian pacer Kane Richardson, who is part of the squad for the New Zealand ODI series at home since Friday, has been tested for Kovid-19 (Coronavirus) and withdrawn from the first ODI in Sydney.

According to various reports, Richardson returned from South Africa – Australia’s last job – with a sore throat and is now quarantined with test results expected this afternoon.

Sean Abbott has been called as a replacement for the match. The first ODI and entire series will be played behind closed doors in view of the coronavirus outbreak. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins arrive for Australia in their last ODI v South Africa for Jhe Richardson and Ken Richardson while New Zealand Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson and IS Sodhi comes from their last ODI for Tim Southee, Kyle Jamison and Hamish Bennett.

“Our medical staff is treating it a specific throat infection, but we are following the Australian Government’s protocol, allowing us to keep Ken away from other team members and returning from international travel in the last 14 days as appropriate The tests are required to be performed, ”Cricket.com quoted a Cricket Australia spokesperson as saying.

“Once we receive the results of the tests and Kane recovers in the next few days we expect he will re-join the team. We will not be making further comment until something changes,” he added.
