Babri Masjid Verdict: This Reflects Faith, Commitment Of Me And BJP Towards Ram Janmabhoomi Movement Says, LK Advani

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) patriarch Lal Krishna Advani on Wednesday welcomed the acquittal of all the accused in the Babri demolition case.

Following the judgment, Advani said that “I wholeheartedly welcome the important verdict given today by the special court in the Babri Masjid demolition case. This verdict reflects the faith and commitment of me and the Bharatiya Janata Party to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.”

“I also like that this decision has come in the footsteps of another landmark judgment of the Supreme Court in December 2019, which paved the way for my long-cherished dream of seeing a grand Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya, the foundation laying ceremony of which was held on 5th August 2020.”

He went on saying, “I am grateful to my party workers, leaders, saints, and all those who, through their selfless involvement and sacrifice, gave me strength and support during the Ayodhya movement.”

“I attach great importance to the contribution of my legal team headed by Mr. Mahipal Ahluwalia. For all these years, Mahipal Ji, his son, and his team devotedly looked into every aspect of the matter.”

On 6 December 1992, delivering its verdict in the Babri Masjid demolition case, the special CBI court today acquitted all 32 accused, saying that the demolition work was spontaneous and not a planned move. Advani was the face of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and led the famous Rath Yatra in 1990.

During the hearing, the CBI produced 351 witnesses and 600 documents as evidence before the court. Notably, charges were framed against 48 people, but 16 died during the trial.
