Balochistan: S.C Orders Re-Election In 29 Polling Stations

On September 19 Pakistan dismissing an appeal filed by Jamhoori Watan party’s (JWP) Shahzad Bugti, on Wednesday the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered re-elections at 29 polling stations of NA-259 in Dera Bugti.

The Express Tribune reported that The court ordered the election commission of Pakistan(ECP)to conduct the polls and announce the results within 90 days. Two members led by Justin Gulzar Ahmed maintained the decision of election tribunal.

The election commission of Pakistan has disqualified Shahzain, withdrawing it’s notification accordingly to which the JWP leader was the returned candidate from NA-259.

According to the commission, the notification issued on August 7 2018, this year over an election tribunal on June 28 this year over an election petition titled ‘Tarik mehmood’khetran vs returning officers and others.

Adding the Shahzain had won the election with a margin of 1,221 votes, JWP leaders council asked the court to restore the notification.

Immediately after his success, Bugti had announced that he would support the Pakistan thereek-e- insaf.
