Bangladesh Players Called Off Their Strike With Immediate Effect

Mumbai: Just a couple of days after Bangladesh cricketers went on strike for their 11 demands with BCB, they called off their ongoing strike with immediate effect as the board agreed to most of the demands that were put up by the players.

The series with India was under the doubt as cricketers announced their strike on 21st October. However, the BCB officials seemed adamant to resolve the problem as quickly as possible and end the ongoing crisis. In the end, they managed to do it successfully. As a result, cricket is set to resume with the National Cricket League starting next Saturday, while the national players will participate in the preparation camp for the upcoming India series that is scheduled to start from October 25.

Nazmul Hasan in a joint press conference where Shakib Ul Hasan was sitting beside him at the board room said, “we have agreed to meet up most of their demands. We had earlier decided to cancel the third round of the NCL, but as the players decided to play we have shifted it to next Saturday. The national camp will start on October 25”.

Players added 2 more demands in their 11 points stating, the board must share a portion of their revenue with the players and that men and women cricketers must be paid equally.

Shakib said, “As papon bhai said, it was a fruitful discussion. He and the rest of the directors assured us that our demands will be met as soon as possible. Based on their assurance, we will start playing the NCL and attend the training camp.”

Nazmul said, “they had sent 11 demands where BCB had nothing to do with the CWAB related demand while we have decided to agree on the remaining demands apart from the one where it was stated that players will be allowed to play in more than two franchise-based tournaments.”

While talking about the franchise-based tournament he added, “I don’t think there are many players who are offered more than two franchise-based tournaments and we will make the decision regarding participation of them in the franchise-based cricket on a case-to-case basis.”

Further, he added, “We have agreed with the rest of the demands, like the DPL transfers and BPL franchise model. We will also significantly improve their allowances in the domestic competitions, and it will be done in the next two or three days, not in six months or year.

He concluded by saying, “We will also improve infrastructure facilities everywhere, and no longer take it to phase by phase. I also heard from many players, and I have asked them to send them their issue in writing in the future.”

So after ending all the speculations coming around the upcoming tour of India, it’s official that it is going to start as scheduled on 3rd November.
