Betrayed People’s Mandate, Congress Slams BJP Over Maharashtra Govt Formation

Mumbai: It’s a ‘betrayal’ of the mandate of the people, congress lambasted on BJP as Devendra Fadnavis took oath as CM of Maharashtra.

Quoting a two-line paragraph Hindi poem, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, “This is called a betrayal of people’s mandate and giving a contract for killing democracy.”

Meanwhile, another Congress leader Priya Dutt tweeted saying that the party should have “acted faster” on government formation and said it was “one more opportunity lost”.

“Not surprised with the developments in Maharashtra. BJP was a bit too quiet thru it all, wish cong would have acted faster their delayed decision gave a window to BJP to strike. One more opportunity lost,” she tweeted.

In a huge development, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the second consecutive time earlier this morning, while NCP’s Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath to Fadnavis and Pawar at Raj Bhavan. After the formation of the government, the President’s rule in Maharashtra has been repealed.

The move came at a time when deliberations between Congress, NCP, and the Shiv Sena on government formation seemingly reached the final stage on Friday.
