Bihar Education Minister Quits 3 Days After Taking Oath Amid Corruption Allegations

Mumbai: Bihar Education Minister Mewa Lal Chaudhary resigned from the post three days after taking oath amid allegations of corruption against him. It was only when the opposition party RJD questioned the BJP-led NDA on corruption allegations that Chaudhary was the minister.

Talking about the development, Mewa Lal said, “The charge is proved only when the charge sheet is filed or the court gives the order and neither of them is there to prove the charge against me.”

The JD (U) leader, who resigned three days after he was sworn in as Bihar’s education minister, was allegedly facing corruption charges in the recruitment of assistant professors and scientists.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was attacked by opposition parties for appointing Chaudhary as education minister, even though he faces corruption charges and was suspended from the party over the issue, and had demanded he is sacked.
