Bihar Lockdown Extended Till 25th May, Announces CM Nitish Kumar

Mumbai: Due to a surge in coronavirus infection in Bihar, the Nitish Kumar government has decided to extend the ongoing lockdown in the state till 25 May.

“Today, a review of the ongoing lockdown in Bihar was done with fellow ministers and officials. Positive consequences of the lockdown could be witnessed. That is why, a decision has been taken to extend the lockdown for the next 10 days, which means from May 16 to May 25, 2021,” tweeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Earlier, the lockdown was imposed from May 4 till May 15.

Earlier, the CM of Bihar had assured that the state government was upgrading the infrastructure in hospitals by increasing the number of ventilators, beds and other items.

He urged people to cooperate for the success of restrictive measures.

CM said, “I appeal to all of you to wear masks, keep a distance of two yards, keep hands clean and get vaccinated when the time comes. I am sure that together we will get rid of this disease.”

According to a Bihar health department bulletin on May 12, the state’s Covid-19 tally stood at 622,433 as 9,863 more people tested positive for the viral disease on the day. The related death toll, meanwhile, reached 3,503 as 74 more people succumbed to the virus. Recoveries and active cases are at 519,306 and 99,623 respectively.
