BJP Chief JP Nadda Writes To Sonia Gandhi, Asks Her To ‘Stop Misleading’ People Over COVID19

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda wrote a letter to his Congress counterpart Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday and asked the party, including her and its chief ministers, to “stop misleading people, and creating false panic and even contradicting the stands on the vaccination policy.”

This comes after a resolution was passed by the Congress Working Committee citing the second COVID-19 wave as a “grave calamity and direct consequence of the Modi government’s indifference, insensitivity, and incompetence.”

“The conduct of Congress during these times was sad but not surprising. While some members of your party are doing commendable work in helping the people, their hard work gets eclipsed by negativity spread by senior members of the party,” the BJP said in a letter written to the Congress interim president.

Nadda said that the country is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic with great courage.

Nadda said that “One would want India to fight COVID-19 with courage, the top echelons of the Congress would stop misleading people, creating false panic and even contradicting their stands just based on political considerations.”

He even accused Congress leaders of being hesitant about the vaccine in the country.

“There is no recent history of vaccine hesitancy in India. The Congress tried to create it during a once-in-a-century pandemic,” Nadda wrote in the letter.

Condemning the Congress leadership, the BJP chief said that the conduct of several Congress leaders, including former president Rahul Gandhi during the COVID-19 epidemic, would be remembered for its duplicity and scandal.

He also said that the states which have BJP or NDA governments have announced their resolve to help provide vaccines to the poor and the underprivileged for free.

“I am sure that Congress governments in various states also feel strongly for the poor. Can they also come out with a similar decision to provide vaccines for free,” he asked.

He also reprimanded Congress governments in the states, claiming that the figures for February and March would show which states failed to track rising COVID-19 cases and why states like Punjab have higher mortality rates.

“Under PM Modi, a fighting pandemic has been driven by an unwavering belief in science, support to innovation and cooperative federalism,” Nadda asserted, seeking to ward off criticism of the Modi government during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
