BJP Files Complaint Against Maha CM Uddhav, Wife Rashmi After Narayan Rane Episode

Mumbai: BJP has filed complaints against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, his wife Rashmi Thackeray and Yuva Sena President, seeking FIRs against them. A complaint was filed against Thackeray for allegedly saying he wanted to hit UP CM Yogi Adityanath with a slipper.

Another complaint was lodged against Saamana editor Rashmi Thackeray for allegedly using abusive words against Union Minister Narayan Rane.

This came a day after Union minister and BJP leader Narayan Rane was arrested in Maharashtra over controversial remarks against Thackeray.

All three complaints have been lodged in Nashik. The police confirmed that the BJP leaders have submitted three complaint applications, news agency PTI reported.

The first complaint is made by Hrishikesh Jayant Aher against Thackeray and Sardesai. It accused Sardesai of “illegal demonstration” outside Rane’s Mumbai residence on Wednesday, and claimed that CM Thackeray later honoured him at his official residence Varsha, which sent a “wrong message”. Aher cited videos of the protests aired on television channels and social media.

They have demanded that Sardesai be booked under sections 153 (A), 107, 212 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and cybercrime laws.

The second complaint has been filed by Sunil Raghunath Kedar against Thackeray, stating that he had allegedly made derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

A video from 2018, when Thackeray was not the chief minister, has surfaced on social media, showing the Shiv Sena chief saying that Yogi should be “slapped with his chappal” for garlanding a photo of Shivaji wearing footwear.

The complainant said that Adityanath is the chief minister of UP and a BJP leader and the mahant of Gorakhpur Math. Therefore, the sentiments of many Hindus are attached to him.

The third complaint has been filed by Shivaji Nivruti Barke against Rashmi Thackeray. It said that in an editorial published in Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ on Wednesday, several derogatory words were used against Rane, which is an “insult” to the constitutional post of the Union minister.

Rane was arrested on Tuesday afternoon from Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district for his remarks made during the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ in Raigad a day earlier.

Rane claimed that Thackeray had forgotten the year of India’s independence during his August 15 speech and he would have slapped the chief minister for it. His comments had triggered protests by Shiv Sainiks in several cities of Maharashtra.

Rane was granted bail by a magistrate court late on Tuesday.
