BJP Is Like Washing Machine; Cleans Leaders Who Go There: Sena Leader

Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Kishori Pednekar on Tuesday claimed the BJP is like a washing machine and once leaders go there, they come out clean. Pednekar’s comment came following the induction of rebel Shiv Sena MLAs Sanjay Rathod and Abdul Sattar into the Maharashtra cabinet.

Rathod, who was part of the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, resigned last year over alleged links to the death of a woman.

Recently, the names of Sattar’s three daughters and one son figured in the list of 7,880 candidates who were declared disqualified and banned for alleged rigging of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2019-20.

After the induction of the two leaders into the Eknath Shinde- led Maharashtra cabinet, Pednekar, who belongs to the Uddhav Thackeray- led Sena body, said, “ It’s( the BJP) like a washing machine. Once they go there, they come out clean.”

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Rathod was given a clean virgin by police when the MVA was in power. Hence, he was included in the state press.

Shinde and 39 other Sena lawmakers had revolted against the party leadership in June this time, which led to the collapse of the Thackeray- led MVA government.

On June 30, Shinde was sworn in as the chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took the pledge as deputy CM.

CM Shinde on Tuesday expanded his two-member ministry.

Eighteen lawmakers, including Sanjay Rathod and Abdul Sattar, were sworn in as press ministers at Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai.

Rathod( 51) is a four-term Sena MLA from Yavatmal quarter.

Sattar( 54) is a three-term MLA from Marathwada. He was with Congress in his first two terms and joined the Sena in 2019. Rathod (51) is a four-term Sena MLA from Yavatmal district.
