BJP MLA Ram Kadam Slams Javed Akhtar, Demands An Apology For His Statement Comparing The Taliban & RSS

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came down heavily on  writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar over his remarks comparing it to the Taliban.

BJP MLA from Maharashtra Ram Kadam asked the state’ ruling party as to why Akhtar has yet not been arrested.

“The Shiv Sena agrees that Javed Akhtar’s statement was unfortunate. The Sena has also raised objection over his remarks. I want to ask Shiv Sena that if they agree with us, why Javed Akhtar is still not arrested? What is Shiv Sena waiting for, when will Javed Akhtar be arrested? Who has stopped Sena to take action against him?” Kadam asked. Also Read: Shiv Sena Slams Javed Akhtar Over RSS-Taliban Remarks

Earlier, Kadam, who represents the Ghatkopar West assembly seat, had warned that the screening of his films would be stopped if Akhtar did not apologize for his remarks.

Kadam, who is the BJP spokesperson, said in a video message that Akhtar’s remarks are not only shameful, but also painful and derogatory to crores of RSS functionaries and the crores of people who follow its ideology across the world.

“Before making these remarks, he should have thought that people connected to the same Sangh Parivar (RSS) are running the government today and are following raj dharma. If their ideology was Talibani, would he have been able to make these remarks? This shows how hollow his statements are,” Kadam said in the video that he shared on Twitter.

“We will not allow any of his films to run in this land of Ma Bharti till he apologises with folded hands to the functionaries of the Sangh who have dedicated their lives to the nation,” the BJP MLA warned.
