Mumbai: For the first time after taking the chair of Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be addressing one of the crucial seminars on National Register Of Citizens (Amendment) bill in Kolkata.
According to media reports, the Union Minister will meet party leaders after addressing the program on NRC and then inaugurate a puja pandal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also be busy in the inauguration of the puja pandals.
The NRC seminar is important because there is a fear in West Bengal that the NRC will be implemented in the state after Assam. The PTI report states that there have been 11 deaths in the state due to panic over the implementation of NRC in West Bengal.
Hundreds of people are seen in government and municipal offices across the state to collect their birth certificates and necessary documents. While Shah has reiterated that NRC will be implemented across the country, Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government has tightened it.
