Mumbai: PDP chief and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti on Friday criticised the BJP and said the party will change the tricolour to a saffron flag.
Taking a jibe at the former ally, with whose support his party formed the government in Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti alleged that the BJP would change the country’s flag just as it snatched the Constitution and flag of Jammu and Kashmir. ,
“In time to come, BJP will finish off even the Constitution and the foundations of secularism on which this country stands. They’ll make this a religious country. They’ll change the Tiranga, which you are hoisting proudly, and bring in a saffron flag,” Mufti said, news agency ANI quoted.
“They’ll change the flag of this nation just like they snatched away Constitution and flag of J&K,” Mufti said, adding that her party has vowed that it will get the flag and Constitution of J&K back. “We’ll also force them to resolve the issue of Kashmir for which lakhs of people sacrificed themselves,” Mufti added.
Mufti’s remarks can be seen in the backdrop of the ongoing ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. J&K leaders like National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah dismissed the call saying they (BJP) should hoist the tricolour in their homes.
