BJP’s Ashish Shelar Urges Voters to Punish Maha Vikas Aghadi for Pandemic Corruption
Dahisar, October 24, 2024 — Mumbai BJP President, MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar, called on voters to hold the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) accountable for alleged corruption during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking at a campaign rally in support of BJP’s Dahisar Assembly candidate Manisha Chaudhary, Shelar emphasized the need for voters to remember the hardships faced by ordinary citizens during the pandemic, when access to basic medical care was scarce.
Shelar accused the MVA, led by former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, of exploiting the crisis for personal gain, awarding lucrative contracts to close associates for items ranging from medicines to body bags. “When the common man was struggling to get an ambulance, or beds, medicines, and treatment for their loved ones, the then chief minister Uddhav Thackeray’s government was busy competing to bag contracts for their close aides,” Shelar said. “Now is the time to settle the scores. The electorate must punish those who were insensitive even towards the deceased.”
He urged voters to cast their ballots in the upcoming Assembly elections to hold the MVA accountable.
The rally was attended by several prominent leaders, including district BJP President Ganesh Khankar, as well as representatives from Shiv Sena, NCP, and RPI.
Prior to the rally, Shelar met with BJP office bearers in Malad and extended best wishes to MLAs Kalidas Kolambkar and Mihir Kotecha, both of whom filed their nominations for the upcoming election.
