Bollywood’s Romantic Veteran Departs To His Final Abode

Mumbai: “Not Marble, nor the gilded stones but the work of the artist shall be remembered”, a little alteration to the Shakespearean word sounds some correspondence at present. The Romantic Veteran of 70s, Rishi Kapoor will be fondly remembered for his contribution to the Indian Cinema.

Grown to be an enthusiastic performer, Kapoor’s first appearance can be seen as a 3-year-old in the most recognized song “Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua hai”, hymned even today. He was believed to be bribed with chocolate by Nargis to accept the role. Years later, the time had come when father Prithvi Raj Kapoor pondered upon casting his son in the film ‘Mera Naam Joker’ of 1970. Subsequent to this, he was signed against Dimple Kapadia in a teenage Love Story, ‘Bobby’ in 1973 after which the actor gained popularity in the sprouting Indian Cinema.

The following years of Rishi Kapoor saw a lot of ups and downs with his films in a dynamic state of box office collections. 11 out of 51 were considered tremendous hits of Kapoor- Bobby, Laila Majnu, Rafoo Chakkar, Sargam, Karz, Prem Rog, Nagina, Honeymoon, Chandni, Heena, Bol Radha Bol, and Yeh Vaada Raha. The drum from his movie Bol Radha Bol had become an iconic trend for the audience to recognize him. His performance on the song “Om Shanti Om” was extensively appreciated among the youths and was later recreated in the movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ starring Shahrukh Khan.

The recent years have showcased Kapoor working in supportive roles busting his guts to outshine his acting outlooks. Be it the romantic and influential roles in Love Aaj Kal or Jab Tak Hai Jaan, or snobbish father in Patiala House, Kapoor had managed to leave no eyes off him when it comes to filming. His cameo role with wife Neetu Kapoor in Yash Chopra’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ was widely appreciated as the couple set an influential example leading to the turning point in Samar and Meera’s life. Rishi Kapoor has lifted notable awards for his performances in the world of entertainment.
