Boult And Wagner Sealed The Match For New Zealand

Mumbai: Neil Wagner and Trent Boult took away the game from Bangladesh and lead the three-match test series after their excellent bowling spells 2-0.

The win was all the more impressive as the first two days of the play was washed off. Bangladesh resumed on Tuesday needing another 141 runs to make New Zealand bat again with seven wickets in hand.

With the ball losing its shine and New Zealand without their skipper Kane Williamson and their wicket keeper BJ Watling whose place was taken by the uncapped 27-year-old gloveman Peter Bocock. To his play, Bocock acquitted himself well throughout and didn’t show any signs of errors.

Neil Wagner finished his spell for 5 wickets for 45 and Trent Boult – 4 wickets for 52 runs.

In the end, Boult and Wagner’s combination sealed the game and the series for their team. The pair of left-arm seamers took combined figures of 9/97 and ensured that New Zealand won the game with plenty of time left to spare.

Ross Taylor was the worthy recipient of the Player of the Match award for his 200 in New Zealand’s only innings of the game.

The series continues with the third test in Christchurch on Sunday, 16th of March.
