Boxer Pooja Rani Knocked Out Of Tokyo Olympics In Quarter-Finals

Mumbai: Indian boxer Pooja Rani exited the Tokyo Olympics after losing in the women’s 75kg middleweight category quarter-finals to China’s Qian Li on Saturday. Qian Li won the bout by a unanimous decision (5-0).

The bronze medalist from Rio got off to a good start with a win in the first round. All the five judges gave him 10 while Pooja gave nine. The Chinese boxer registered a 5-0 win against Pooja in the first round.

In the second round as well, Li Qian repeated the same and didn’t let Pooja get over her. The ace boxer won the essay 5-0 on the Indian boxer.

Pooja needed a comeback in the last round but she couldn’t weather the storm as Li Qian won the final round again with a similar scoreline to end the Indian boxer’s campaign.
