Boys In School Looked At My Pics On Porn-Like Site & Laughed: Janhvi Kapoor
Mumbai: As Janhvi Kapoor gears up for the release of the sports drama “Mr and Mrs Mahi,” she delves into a candid conversation about her early experiences with being sexualized in the media. Joined by co-star Rajkummar Rao and producer Karan Johar in a discussion on the official YouTube channel of Dharma Productions, Kapoor sheds light on the challenges she faced at a young age.
Reflecting on her journey, Kapoor recalls feeling objectified by the media as early as 12-13 years old. “I think the first time I felt sexualized by the media was when I was 12-13 years old,” she shared. “There were pictures of me in the media, and social media had just started. I found pictures of me in what seemed like a pornographic site, and boys in my school were looking at it and laughing.”
Navigating through such experiences has been complex for Kapoor. She acknowledges the privilege in her ability to articulate her struggles, yet emphasizes the societal pressure and character assassination faced by girls when they express comfort with their sexuality. “There is a sort of character assassination that a girl faces when she dresses in a way that makes it seem like she is comfortable with her sexuality,” Kapoor expressed.
In “Mr and Mrs Mahi,” Kapoor portrays a doctor with a passion for cricket, who is trained by her husband, played by Rajkummar Rao, to become a cricketer. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film is set to hit theatres on May 31, offering audiences a unique blend of sports and drama.
As Kapoor continues to navigate the complexities of the industry, her openness about personal challenges adds depth to her journey, resonating with audiences on a relatable level.
