Mumbai: A video has gone viral on social media showing a bride slapping the groom twice and walking off the stage during jaimala ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district.
The incident happened on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, where hundreds of guests had arrived to attend the wedding.
In the video, the bride and groom are seen standing on the wedding stage with a garland in their hands. As the groom garlands the bride, she slaps her in the face. Not once, twice! She then got off the stage, leaving the guests stunned. As per the video, she did not like the groom, however, the exact reason is not known.
Journalist Piyush Rai shared the video and wrote, ”In UP’s Hamirpur, a video of a bride slapping the groom on stage during “jaimal” ceremony on Sunday has surfaced. Details on what triggered this outburst are still sketchy but a relative of groom’s side claims bride “didn’t like” the groom.”

According to a report in Times Now, the bride was later identified as Reena, who was getting married to Ravikant Ahirwar. It is said that the marriage finally took place sometime after the local police and family members intervened to control the situation.
