BS Yediyurappa condemns Maharashtra Deputy CM’s remark on Belagavi

Mumbai: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday commented on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar‘s inclusion of Belgaum (Belagavi) and some other areas of Karnataka into Maharashtra.

Quoting Pawar, Yeddyurappa said that Pawar’s statement was intended to give rise to some unwanted controversies and also urged him not to make such remarks.

Yeddiyurappa told reporters here, “I condemn the statement made by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to Belgaum and other places. It is not right for him to make this comment. I condemn it. The whole world knows that The Mahajan Committee report is the final report.”

He said, “Like Kannadigas, Marathi speaking people belong to us. The Maratha Development Authority was formed for the development of the Maratha community. They are strong Hindutvaists, they are also influenced at the World Kannada Conference in Belagavi.”

Karnataka and Maharashtra have been at loggerheads for their border areas in districts such as Belagavi, Karwar, and Nipani for decades.
