BSF Fire At Drone Spotted In Punjab; Drone Manages To Return To Pak

Mumbai: BSF personnel fired at a drone after it was sighted in Punjab’s Gurdaspur near the International Border on Monday. The personnel fired five rounds at the drone after the patrolling team heard a humming sound but it managed to return to Pakistan territory.

A BSF official said that a drone was sighted around 12.30 pm.

When the patrolling team heard the sound, the BSF personnel fired 5 rounds, after which the drone returned to the Pakistan border. Seeing drones near the international border is nothing new.

Even before this, many drones have been sent by Pakistan, to which Indian security forces have given a befitting reply. On Friday, the BSF shot down a drone near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab. A Chinese-made drone was spotted and shot down near Wan border post in the Firozpur sector around 11.10 pm on Friday night.

An official had said that the black flying object was dropped about 300 meters from the international border and 150 meters from the border fence.

He had told that the hexacopter drone with four power batteries weighed around 23 kg and was capable of carrying about 10 kg. There were no drugs, weapons or ammunition on the drone.

The BSF had said that the area where the drone was shot down is being searched. Even before this, BSF had shot down two such drones from Pakistan, which had arms and ammunition. Both these incidents happened in the border areas of Punjab.

BSF Director General Pankaj Kumar Singh said on November 30 that at least 67 drones have been sighted so far this year along the border in Punjab and Jammu. He had said, right now the number of drones coming to our country is less and these are all drones made in China. They are very advanced and capable of lifting less weight and in 95 per cent of the cases, they carry narcotics.
