Bugdet 2019: Those Without Pan Can Now File Returns Using Aadhaar: FM

Mumbai: In another development, Nirmala Sitharaman said that now PAN and Aadhaar cards are now interchangeable.

“More than 120 crore Indians now have Aadhar cards, so for the ease of taxpayers I propose to make Pan Card and Aadhar card interchangeable and those who do not have the PAN only file return returns by referring the Aadhaar number And use anywhere, wherever required, use pan, “he said in the Lok Sabha.

The Union Minister also said that the faceless and anonymous assessment system for income tax will be implemented in phases this year.

While the PAN is used to ensure that every citizen pays his taxes, the Aadhar Card is a unique identity (UID) number issued by the government.

On Thursday, the Lok Sabha passed the Vote the Aadhaar and Other Law (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

In the bill, efforts are made to amend the base (financial and other subsidies, targeted distribution of service) Act 2016 and to amend the Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.
