CAA Will Not Take Away Rights Of Any Citizen, Don’t Be Part Of Anyone Else’s Politics: Smriti Irani

She further assured that the BJP led NDA government will not take any decision against the common interest of the general public

Mumbai: Union Minister Smriti Irani said here on Friday that the Citizenship Amendment Act does not snatch the rights of any Indian citizen and appeals to them not to be instruments of any other political strategy, to protest the ongoing protests on the Amendments Act between.

“The Citizenship Amendment Act does not take away the rights of any citizen of India. I appeal to the state governments to take strict action against those who are supporting the violent elements,” Irani was quoted by ANI.

Without naming West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Union Minister said, “Every citizen and political party of the country knows that the Indian Constitution and Parliament are supreme. After the Parliament is passed, the Chief Minister’s suspicion is nothing more. Insult to Parliament.”

She further assured that the BJP led NDA government will not take any decision against the common interest of the general public.

Protests erupted in different parts of the country over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, which grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.
