Cabinet Approves ₹100 Lakh Crore PM GatiShakti National Master Plan

Mumbai: Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the implementation of the ₹100 lakh crore PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) for multi-modal connectivity to economic zones. PM Narendra Modi had launched the plan on October 13.

It aims to cut logistics costs, increase cargo handling capacity and reduce turnaround time.

An Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGoS) headed by the Cabinet Secretary and Secretaries of 18 Ministries will be set up as members.

Briefing the media about the decision, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that a Multimodal Network Planning Group (NPG) would be formed with representation from the heads of the Network Planning Division of various Ministries and Departments.

The NPG will be supported by a Technical Support Unit (TSU) located in the Logistics Division of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

TSU will have domain experts in various infrastructure sectors, such as Aviation, Maritime, Public Transport, Rail, Road & Highways, Ports, Power, Pipelines, GIS, ICT, Finance/Market PPP, Logistics, Data Analysis etc.

The EGOS has been mandated to review and monitor the implementation of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan to ensure logistics efficiency.
