Central Govt Trying To Mislead Farmers Of West Bengal: TMC

Mumbai: The Trinamool Congress on Friday said that BJP repeatedly tried to mislead the farmers under the PM Kisan Nidhi Samman Yojana in West Bengal by repeatedly blaming the state government for depriving them of cash benefits.

“The BJP has been repeatedly saying that the farmers of West Bengal are being deprived of cash under this scheme. This is not true. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked the Centre to route the cash benefits through the state government and not directly to the farmers.

TMC MP Saugata Roy told reporters here, “The Modi government’s intention is to gain political mileage.”

Roy also said that the new farm legislation will help corporates and ushers in contract farming in the country.

The central government used a “brutal majority” in Parliament to pass new agricultural bills, which also removed potatoes and onions from the list of essential commodities.

Roy said that the West Bengal government has given Rs 2,642 crore to the farmers of the state under its ‘Krishak Bandhu’ scheme and the budgetary allocation in the area of ​​farming has increased five times.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave Rs 18,000 crore to 9 crore farmer families of the country.
