Centre Has Not Sanctioned Rapid Testing Kits Yet: Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain

Mumbai: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Thursday that the Center has not approved the rapid test kit and that the available RT-PCR test is a “complex” one.

In the last 24 hours, 9 people died in Delhi due to COVID-19 taking a toll on 115.

Jain said, “There have been nine deaths in the last 24 hours in Delhi, with a total of 115 deaths. Front workers, working day and night, are more likely to have coronavirus.”

On the issue of compulsory testing in government offices, Jain said: “The centre has made a protocol for these tests. In these protocols, there are set guidelines in place. The only way to do more testing is via rapid testing kits–which the centre has not sanctioned as of yet.”

On the issue of compulsory testing in government offices, Jain said: “The center has created a protocol for these tests. The guidelines are laid down in these protocols. The only way to do more testing is via rapid testing kits–which the center has not sanctioned as of yet.”

Jain further stated that RT-PCR testing is “a complex process and many are not ready to perform this test”. “No one comes forward to undergo RT-PCR testing,” he said.

The double rate of cases in Delhi is 11-12 days. “We would be in a more comfortable position if the doubling rate was more than 20 or 20 days,” he said.
