Centre Must Proactively Procure COVID-19 Vaccines For Kids: Sisodia

Mumbai: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday, that the Centre should move proactively to procure Covid vaccines for children as many countries have started working on it.

The ruling AAP dispensation led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has voiced concern over the safety of children while citing the opinion of experts that children may be affected in a possible third wave of COVID.

Sisodia tweeted, “The world has started working on a vaccine for children under age 12. Centre Govt should proactively do the needful to procure as many vaccines as possible to keep our children safe.”

However, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi has recently started screening children aged between 2 and 18, for the trial of Covaxin, India’s first indigenously developed Covid19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, A national expert group has been formed to review Covid19 infections in children and approach the pandemic in a renewed way to strengthen the nation’s preparedness, NITI Aayog Member (Health) V K Paul had said at a press conference earlier this week.
