Centre To Take Foreign Envoys To Jammu And Kashmir To Show Ground Situation

Mumbai: In another development, Indian government is all set to take yet another group of foreign envoys to Jammu and Kashmir to show the ground situation, reports stated.

Reportedly, envoys from a diverse set of groupings and countries will be taken to the Valley on January 9 or January 10, 2020.

Earlier in October last year, the Government of India took several EU MPs to Jammu and Kashmir. The international delegation was invited to visit the Valley after the repeal of Article 370, which now grants special status to the disruptive state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The last visit by foreign MPs came amid a bid by the central government to restore normalcy in the union territory months after the clampdown.

Even the ensuing visit of foreign envoys is coming amid criticism of the centre cutting the valley by denying its internet services.

On 1 January, SMS services in Jammu and Kashmir were restored after five months. Earlier on October 14, postpaid mobile services were also restored. Last week, authorities restored mobile Internet services in the Kargil district of Ladakh after being suspended for about 145 days after the abolition of Section 370 in the region.
