Chandigarh Imposes Weekend Curfew From Today Amid Coronavirus Surge

Mumbai: In the wake of rising coronavirus cases, Chandigarh administration on Friday imposed a weekend curfew in the Union Territory from Friday 10 pm to Monday 5 am.

During this time only essential services will be allowed. Order will be applicable from tonight

This decision was taken during the high-level meeting of the Chandigarh administration.

Manoj Parida, Advisor to Chandigarh Administrator, said that the deadline for NDA and other examinations will not be affected as students will be allowed to travel after showing their admit card.

The vaccination program will also continue during curfew, informed Parida.

In Chandigarh, the maximum number of people at any gathering (political, social and religious) has been capped at 200 for outdoor events and 100 for indoor functions.

Stressing on the need of vaccination for priority groups, Jagat Ram said, “The priority groups should get vaccinated against Covid-19 which will help reduce the intensity and severity of the disease, which will further help in breaking the chain of the transmission.”
