Chandrayaan 2 Has Successfully Entered The Lunar Orbit

Mumbai: In a recent development, ISRO successfully placed Chandrayaan 2 into lunar orbit on Tuesday morning, thus successfully meeting a major obstacle in India’s second moon mission.

Chandrayaan 2 will now perform 4 more orbit manoeuvres to bring the spacecraft to its final orbit before a critical landing on the lunar surface on 7 September.

ISRO stated that the significant milestone was achieved after igniting the liquid engine of Chandrayaan 2 for about 1738 seconds.

Indian Space Research Organization President K Sivan will address the media soon to give information about the milestones achieved on Tuesday.

After the initial unsuccessful attempt, Chandrayaan 2 was successfully launched by GSLV MkIII-M1 vehicle on 22 July. The Moon mission entered the lunar transfer trajectory on 14 August, after which the spacecraft manoeuvre was successfully carried out.
