Chandrayaan-2 Orbiter Doing Very Well, No Communication With Lander: ISRO Chief

Mumbai: Dream comes to an end as ISRO failed to connect with Chandrayaan 2’s Vikram Lander.

Lander which lost its connectivity from the center 2.1 km away from the surface of the moon, ISRO had 14 days to connect with the lander but it seems day by day the dreams of millions have been shattered.

Meanwhile, we have not completely disappointed as Chandrayaan 2’s orbiter is doing very well and the eight instruments in the orbiter are doing exactly what they’re meant to do inform ISRO Chief K Sivan.

He, however, added that communication is yet to be established with the Vikram Lander.

“Chandrayaan-2 orbiter is doing very well. There are 8 instruments in the orbiter and each instrument is doing exactly what it’s meant to do. Regarding the lander, we have not been able to establish communication with it. Our next priority is Gaganyaan mission,” Sivan said.

On Thursday, ISRO reported that the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter is continuing the mission to meet satisfaction while experts are still analyzing communication losses with Vikram Lander.

The lander, Vikram, was to be brought to soft-land on the far side of the moon on 7 September.

This component was successfully separated from the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter on 2 September. After orbiting the Earth for about 23 days. The craft began its journey to the moon on 14 August.
