Char Dham Yatra: Uttarakhand HC Removes Daily Limit On Number Of Devotees

Mumbai: The Uttarakhand High Court on Tuesday removed the daily limit of devotees visiting the famous Himalayan temples, also known as Char Dham – Kedarnath Dham, Badrinath Dham, Gangotri and Yamunotri.

The decision comes days after the state government moved the High Court to remove the daily limit imposed on the number of pilgrims visiting the Char Dham.

The state government, in an amendment application filed before a division bench of Justice RC Khulbe and Justice Alok Kumar, had said the daily limit of the victims was affecting the earnings of those engaged in Char Dham-related businesses in the form of Yatra which had a delayed start, can go on only till mid-November.

Last month, the High Court had lifted the ban on the Char Dham Yatra and imposed a daily limit on the number of devotees visiting the temples as a precautionary measure in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the court’s order, 800 pilgrims were allowed in Kedarnath Dham, 1200 in Badrinath Dham, 600 in Gangotri and 400 in Yamunotri every day.
