Charanjit Singh Channi To File Defamation Case Against Delhi Kejriwal

Mumbai: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday said he will file a defamation case against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, who has termed him as a dishonest person following ED’s raids at several places, including the Congress leader’s nephew.

Channi alleged that Kejriwal had a habit of levelling allegations to defame others and it was seen in the past how he later had to apologize to BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, late Arun Jaitley and SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia.

Speaking to reporters in his constituency in Chamkaur Sahib, he claimed that Kejriwal has now crossed all limits and requested his party to allow the registration of a defamation case against the AAP leader.

He said, “I will file a defamation case against Kejriwal and I have requested my party to allow me to do so. I am compelled to do this…he is dubbing me as dishonest and he has put that on his Twitter handle,” he said.

In the wake of the Enforcement Directorate raids, the opposition parties, especially the AAP, have intensified their attacks on Channi and Congress.

The Aam Aadmi Party has been attacking Channi since the ED raids at many places, including the premises of Channi’s nephew.

The Delhi Chief Minister on Wednesday had said that Channi was not a common man but a “dishonest man” as he tried to corner the Congress leader during the ED raids.

The ED had said on Wednesday that it has seized cash worth over Rs 10 crore, including about Rs 8 crore, from a relative of Channi.
