Chargesheet Filed In Drug Case Related To Sushant’s Death, 33 Named Accused

Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has today filed a charge sheet in a special NDPS court in relation to the drug case related to Sushant Singh Rajput. Actor Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Shovik Chakraborty and others are accused in the case.

According to the report of the news agency ANI, the agency has filed a charge sheet against the statements of 33 accused and 200 witnesses. The bureau today presented more than 12,000 pages in hard copy and about 50,000 pages in digital format in court.

The agency had filed a criminal case against Rhea in August last year. On August 26, the bureau registered a case under sections 20, 22, 27 and 29 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.

The NCB became involved in the case after writing a letter to the agency by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) when it pulled out a WhatsApp chat between Rhea, Shovik, Samuel Miranda, Jaya Saha and Gaurav Arya related to drugs.

On September 8, after several rounds of questioning, Rhea and her brother were arrested in the case. The NCB called the actor an ‘active member of the drug syndicate’. She was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on 7 October on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. Along with this, the other accused in the case – Samuel Miranda, and Deepesh Sawant – were also granted bail by the High Court.

In her bail plea, Rhea had made several serious allegations against the agency, including making ‘self-abusive statements and false implications in the case.

Sushant was found dead in his apartment in Bandra on 14 June last year. After conducting a preliminary investigation, the Mumbai police called it a suicide case.

However, dissatisfied with the Mumbai Police’s investigation into the case, the deceased actor’s family lodged a separate case for suicide against Rhea and others at a police station in Patna.

Another case was registered against Rhea after the ED claimed the fund’s expenses. The ED joined hands with the actor’s WhatsApp chat about the narcotics in his investigation, which he forwarded to the concerned bureau and involved him in the case.

The NCB had also questioned Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, and Sara Ali Khan apart from Rhea in the drugs case.
