Chhaava Creates History at the Box Office, Becomes Biggest Film of 2025
Mumbai: Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s latest release, Chhaava, has taken the box office by storm, registering record-breaking collections in its opening weekend. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the historical action drama witnessed a massive surge in its earnings on Sunday, establishing itself as the highest-grossing film of 2025 in just three days.
Chhaava‘s Spectacular Box Office Performance
According to Sacnilk, Chhaava collected a staggering ₹48.5 crore net on Sunday alone, bringing its three-day total to an impressive ₹116.5 crore. The film, which opened to ₹31 crore on Friday, broke the record for the highest Valentine’s Day opening, surpassing Gully Boy (₹19.40 crore). It saw a 19.35% increase in collections on Saturday, earning ₹37 crore, and continued its momentum with record Sunday figures.
With its ₹116 crore haul, Chhaava has emerged as the biggest money-maker of the year so far, surpassing Sky Force, which has accumulated ₹114 crore over a span of three weeks. Other films such as Deva and Emergency lag far behind in comparison.
Special Screenings Amid Huge Demand
The overwhelming demand for the film has led to special screenings, including 6 AM and midnight shows in Maharashtra, where the film has recorded a remarkable 97% occupancy.
Cast and Crew
Helmed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Chhaava features an ensemble cast, including Akshaye Khanna and Diana Penty in pivotal roles. The film’s music and background score have been composed by the legendary AR Rahman. Vicky Kaushal portrays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Rashmika Mandanna essays the role of his wife, Yesubai Bhonsale. Akshaye Khanna plays Aurangzeb, and Diana Penty appears as his daughter, Zinat-un-Nissa Begum.
With the current momentum, Chhaava is expected to set new benchmarks in the days to come, solidifying its place as one of the biggest hits of the year.
