Chhapaak Box Office Collection Day 2: Deepika Padukone’s Film Witnesses Rise, Collects Rs 11.67 Crore

Mumbai: Raising upward Meghna Gulzar-directorial Chhapaak, starring actors Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey in the lead, looks forward to better performance this Sunday.

Sharing the fresh figures on his social media handle, Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed, “#Chhapaak witnesses an upward trend on Day 2, but the 2-day total is underwhelming… Decent at premium multiplexes, but unable to connect *and* collect beyond metros… Needs to cover lost ground on Day 3… Fri 4.77 cr, Sat 6.90 cr. Total: ₹ 11.67 cr. #India biz. (sic).”

Deepika’s decision to make an appearance after being attacked by a student at JNU in an armed attack by a mob has divided the nation and has flooded social media in support of and against the actress since Tuesday. Soon after the actor’s pictures went viral, a section of people started trending #BoycottChhapaak, while declaring his support for Devgn’s Tanhaji. BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga also announced that he would give free tickets for Ajay Devgan’s ‘Tanhaji’.

From praising the filmmaker’s “masterful direction” to “great performances” by the actors, critics were seen snapping at the movie that hit the cinema screens on January 9, 2020. In Chhapaak, Deepika plays Malti, a woman. Like a phoenix from the ashes after suffering an acid attack, in his upcoming film Chhapaak.
