Mumbai: Meghana Gulzar, director ‘Chhapaak‘ and Fox Star Studios has filed an appeal in the Delhi High Court, challenging the lower court order to give due credit to lawyer Aparna Bhat.
Bhat was the legal representative of Lakshmi Aggarwal, on which the film is based.
A Delhi court yesterday ordered the filmmaker Meghna Gulzar to give due credit to lawyer Aparna Bhat, who fought a criminal case for the Acid Survivor, whose life the film is based on.
The court had also issued summons to the filmmakers and producers to settle the issues and listed the matter for further hearing for 14 February.
Bhat had filed a petition before the Patiala House Court in Delhi, seeking a stay on the film’s release.
The court considered that the petitioner’s contribution “should be accepted as it provided the support of legal documents in the form of consultation, inputs, and documents as required”.
