CJI Sexual Harassment Case: Protest Outside Supreme Court, Section 144 Imposed By Police
Mumbai: After giving a clean chit to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) in connection with sexual harassment case against him, the police had imposed Section 144 outside the Supreme Court.
From the morning, a group of lawyers and women activists participated in the protest.
However, things started to get out of control soon because the police tried to disperse the gathering; Some journalists who covered the proceedings were also detained by police personnel.
Security beyond the premises of the top court has also been increased.
A group of several activists and lawyers were opposing the process adopted by the three-judge panel led by Justice SA Bobde to deal with the sexual harassment case against CJI Gogoi.
On Monday, a three-judge bench, probing allegations of sexual harassment against Ranjan Gogoi, gave him a clean chit in the case. The panel said that no substance was found in the allegations levelled by the former Supreme Court employee.
