Complete Lockdown In Pune If Curfew Rules Not Followed: Ajit Pawar

Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar warned Pune residents of a complete lockdown if curfew rules aren’t followed. Pawar said if people don’t cooperate even after the imposition of the curfew then the administrator may have to impose a complete lockdown like last year.

“Residents of Pune responded well to the weekend lockdown. I hope they follow the rules in the coming days. Otherwise, as some of my fellow ministers have warned, a full lockdown can be imposed, just like last year. I request citizens to follow the rules and do not push the administration to take this decision.  lockdown, many suffered a lot of hardships,” Pawar said.

The curfew is receiving a lukewarm response in Pune.

Pawar approved 1 crore out of 288 MLAs of Maharashtra for immediate expenditure on COVID related issues.

After reviewing the COVID position in Pune, Pawar told reporters that a total of ₹350 crores has been sanctioned under the local area development fund for legislators.

“There was a growing demand from members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and the Legislative Council to obtain permission to spend a portion of their local area development fund for COVID relief work. Last year, the quota of MLAs local area fund was ₹3 crores and they were granted permission to spend ₹50 lakh of it for Covid work. Of the ₹4 crore funds for the local area development, they can now spend ₹1 crore for immediate Covid relief work in their constituencies,” Pawar said.

“A total of ₹350 crores has been granted for immediate Covid relief work for all the districts in Maharashtra through the MLA’s local area development funds,” said Pawar.

Meanwhile, the Pune district, topped the chart with 11,045 cases, including 5,437 in the city, 3,082 in rural parts and 2,526 in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The district also logged 47 deaths, of which 36 were in the city.
