Complete Lockdown Should Be Imposed Looking At Current Situation: Mumbai Mayor

Mumbai: Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has said that a complete lockdown should be imposed looking at the current COVID-19 situation.

However, She said that 95 per cent of Mumbaikars are adhering to COVID-19 restrictions but the remaining 5 per cent are a big worry as they are causing problems to others with their behaviour.

“95% of Mumbaikars are adhering to COVID-19 restrictions. The remaining 5% of people who are not following restrictions are causing problems to others,” she said while addressing to media.

“I think a complete lockdown should be imposed looking at the current COVID-19 situation,” she added.

Speaking on the most trending Kumbh Mela, Pednekar said, “Those returning from Kumbh Mela to their respective states will distribute Corona as ‘prasad’. All these people should be quarantined in their respective states at their own cost. In Mumbai also, we’re thinking of putting them under quarantine on their return.”

The BMC Mayor’s commented this after seeing a man was arrest in Mumbai for refusing to wear a mask and assaulting a policeman who objected to the violation.

Meanwhile, Mumbai on Friday reported 8,839 new COVID19 cases, taking the tally to 5,61,998 and the death toll rose to 12,242 after the addition of 3 deaths.
