Congress Candidate Shafia Zubair Beats BJP In Ramgarh Election

Mumbai: Congress bags Rangarh assembly candidate Shafia Zubair won the Rajasthan assembly polls by defeating BJP candidate Sukhwant Singh by a margin of 12,228 votes, officials said.

Officials of the Rajasthan government department said that Zubair secured 44.77 percent of the votes secured 83,311 votes, while Singh secured 71,083 votes. Jagan Singh, son of BSP candidate and former Union minister Natwar Singh, was in third place. They secured 24,856 votes.

Rajasthan Congress President and Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot said, it is a vote of re-faith towards the Congress party by the people of Rajasthan.

“It was the first election after the formation of the government and the result is an indication that the BJP has lost support to him, the pilot told PTI.

With this win Congress has increased to 100 in 200-member Rajasthan assembly, its ally – RLD- has one seat thus the government is in a comfortable position.
