Congress Leader Rahul Says Will Visit J&K, Don’t Need Guv’s Aircraft

Mumbai: Accepting the invitation of Governor Satya Pal Malik’s invitation to visit Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said he did not need an aircraft.

This comes a day after Satya Pal Malik lashed out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his remarks about reports of violence in the Valley. Malik said he would send Gandhi an aircraft to visit the Valley and observe the situation.

“I have invited Rahul Gandhi to come here,” Malik said. “I will send you a plane, to observe [the situation] and then speak up. You are a responsible person and you should not speak like this.”

For which Gandhi replied that he and other opposition leaders would visit Jammu and Kashmir and urged Malik to allow them the freedom to meet people, and soldiers.

Gandhi said in a tweet, “Dear Governor Malik, A delegation of opposition leaders & I will take you up on your gracious invitation to visit J&K and Ladakh. We won’t need an aircraft but please ensure us the freedom to travel & meet the people, mainstream leaders and our soldiers stationed over there.”
