Congress Should Do Their Homework Before Putting Allegations: Nirmala Sitharaman

Mumbai: During the press conference, the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman was asked about allegations put by Congress on stealing money from Reserve bank, Sitharaman rebutted by saying that the Congress should do their homework before making such comments.

She had said that the Congress should surely make comments but before that first look at the damages, they have done to the country’s economy when they were in power. Also, the decision of providing the surplus was solely based on the discussion of the RBI committee members and not of BJP and the centre’s involvement in looting money was completely baseless.

She explained, “Surplus comes out after taking care of, after providing for any emergency situation. And the committee of experts appointed by the Reserve Bank of India gives a formulation of whether to provide for all emergency situation, it can be a financial emergency or any other emergency.”

A couple of days earlier Congress had alleged the BJP of looting the money from RBI and commented that “Prime Minister and Finance minister are clueless about how to solve their self-created economic disaster. Stealing money from RBI won’t work- it’s like stealing a band-aid from the dispensary and sticking it on the gunshot wound.”

She further added that it is only after the committee’s formulation the RBI decides whether to provide the surplus, she said, “How much surplus should be given is determined by the committee. And the RBI converts the formulation in amount after seeing the provision and on the basis of the current situation. It’s not related to BJPs decision but on the RBI’s”

She said that the use of this surplus will be decided by the government and that Congress should do their homework before commenting.
