Congress Thinks It’s Entitled To Indulge In ‘Dacoity’: Sambit Patra

Mumbai: BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Tuesday claimed the Congress thinks it’s entitled to commit “dacoity and no one should question it”.

He criticized the Congress for its “satyagraha” against the questioning of party president Sonia Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper.

Gandhi appeared before the ED in Delhi on Tuesday for the second round of questioning in the case.

Addressing a press conference at the Kushabhau Thackeray premises of the BJP office in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur, Patra said, “I have felt many times that ED for Congress means ‘entitled to dacoity’. They thought they were entitled to indulge in dacoity and no one should question them.” Those who are corrupt should not think that they will not be investigated, he said.

“Zero tolerance against corruption has been the motto of the BJP. The entire country is watching the way the Congress party is playing a satyagraha drama against Sonia Gandhi’s appearance before the ED in the National Herald case today, the whole country is watching it,” he said.

Patra said that there is no issue left with the opposition to raise.

Hitting out at the Congress for carrying out ‘satyagraha’, he said, “Sonia ji, we don’t want uproar but confession. An inquiry is due process. The process of the law of the land will take its due time and will come to a logical conclusion.” Conclusion. That is the beauty of India.”

Patra claimed that “cash worth Rs 21 crore was seized from West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, cash was recovered from Aam Aadmi Party minister (in Delhi) Satyendra Jain, and the court has made strong observations in the National Herald case wherein Rs 5,000 crore was embezzled”.

When there are allegations of corruption worth Rs 5,000 crore against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, naturally they will be questioned.

He claimed that the embezzled property belonged to taxpayers and freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives and was snatched away by a family, claiming that those responsible (for the crime) would face questioning.
