Cops Call Out The Bluff Of A Businessman Who Cried Of Kidnap And Robbery
Mumbai: Cops called out on the bluff of a contractor, who claimed he was kidnapped and robbed. Ashish Choksi had lodged a complaint at Aarey Colony police station, stating that three men stopped the rickshaw he was in, kidnapped and robbed him of Rs 40,000 in Jogeshwari last week.
Crime branch officials carried a probe and found Choksi, who takes contracts of installing stalls at exhibitions, lied to the police to avoid paying his employees. He was reeling under debt, the police said.
The police checked grabs from CCTV in the area and identified the auto he had taken. The driver was questioned and he denied any such incident having taken place.
He might face charges for falsely reporting a crime and wasting police resources for the same.
