Coronavirus Cases Yet To Peak In Pak, Have To Face ‘Very Difficult Time’ Ahead: Imran Khan

Mumbai: Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to reach the peak of Pakistan’s coronovirus cases on Monday in late July or August.

Geo News reported that while addressing the nation, he warned the country for “a very difficult time” if people continue to ignore standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The Prime Minister said that the whole world has now understood that the lockdown is not the solution to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Dawn quoted Khan as saying, “We already know that the virus will spread, the trend that our experts have seen has spread, then peaks and then the curve decreases. And the purpose behind flattening the curve is to reduce pressure on hospitals.”

“Our cases are expected to reach a climax by the end of July or August, and then the broadcast will subside. So, today I appeal to you, not for me, for you: Please take precautions for your loved ones, for the elderly and for those who have [other ailments],” he added.

Khan said that Pakistan is a “poor country” and “there is no option” to reopen the country. His address to the nation comes as Pakistan has crossed the 1 lakh mark of coronovirus cases.

There are more than 1.05 lakh cases and around 3000 deaths in the country.

“When a country imposes lockdown restrictions, the spread of the virus slows down.’

“But we should also realize that Pakistan is a poor country and we had no choice but to reopen the country. The whole world has understood that lockdown is not a solution.
