Couple Jumps Into 90-ft Gorge As Train Arrives Suddenly During Photoshoot In Rajasthan

Mumbai: A couple suffered severe injuries after jumping 90 feet into a gorge from the Heritage Bridge in Rajasthan’s Pali district when a train appeared during their photo shoot on the tracks on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred when Rahul Mewada, 22, and his wife Jahnvi, 20, residents of Kalal Ki Pipaliyan in Bagdi Nagar, decided to have a photoshoot on the heritage bridge, which is designed for meter gauge trains. Their photo session was abruptly interrupted by the sudden arrival of a train. In a panic, the couple jumped from the bridge, resulting in significant injuries.
Rahul sustained severe spinal injuries and was transferred to a hospital in Jodhpur for further treatment. Jahnvi is being treated for a leg fracture at Bangar Hospital. Although they are currently out of danger, their condition remains critical.
The incident was captured in a video posted on X, showing the couple holding each other and jumping from the bridge as the train approached. Rahul’s sister and brother-in-law, who were with the couple at the time, managed to escape unscathed by running away when they saw the train coming.
Senior Commercial Divisional Manager of Ajmer Railway Division, Sunil Kumar Mahala, commented on the incident, stating that the train’s loco pilot had begun braking upon spotting the couple on the bridge. Despite the train halting on the bridge, the couple’s fear led them to jump, resulting in their injuries.
The couple had ventured to Gormghat by bike for a day trip. What began as a picturesque outing ended in a terrifying ordeal, highlighting the dangers of taking photos on active train tracks.
