Court Orders FIR Against Sambit Patra Over Kejriwal’s Doctored Video

Mumbai: A Delhi court on Tuesday, November 23 ordered the police to register an FIR against BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra for sharing a fake video of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal portraying the leader as speaking in support of the recently revoked farm laws, news agency ANI reported.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Hrishikesh Kumar said on Twitter that he has sought direction from the court under Section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

A video posted by Patra in January this year shows Kejriwal speaking on the benefits of agricultural laws in a TV interview.

On Friday, November 19, PM Modi addressed the nation on the occasion of Gurpurab and announced that the central government has decided to repeal three controversial agricultural laws after more than a year of protests.

Thousands of farmers have been protesting against the government’s agriculture laws since 26 November 2020 at Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur border in the national capital.

They have repeatedly asserted that the three laws enacted in 2020 were against their interest, while the Centre maintained that they were pro-farmer.
